Women in rural Japan armed with airsoft guns form "Monkey Busters" to protect crops

Japanese monkeys who try to eat crops in Japan's Fukui prefecture are the targets of the Monkey Busters, a team of three airsoft gun-toting women between the ages of 67 and 74. One of Monkey Busters told The Fukui Shimbun that her squad has no tolerance for monkeys who "damage the precious vegetables made by the villagers."

For a period of time, the monkeys disappeared, but Mrs. Ishimura said, "They started to appear again in the middle of July. There are many elderly people in the Miyama area, and the cultivation of fields is essential for health and vitality. In the future, it is necessary for the area to continue working together as one."
